Testimonials from teachers

I am coming to the end of my first year of working for an agency as a Supply Teacher. I have really enjoyed not being tied to a regular contract and being able to do other things during term time, rather than having to say to people "I can't, because I'll be working". Thank you to West Country for your friendly efficiency and helpfulness, which has enabled me to have such a great year.

Julie,  current Supply Teacher - March 2018

I must say it was an absolute pleasure working for West Country. The team have fantastic experience and really know the business. Communication was always excellent, the jobs were regular and it was always nice to have some feedback from the placements too. If you you’re looking for an agency for supply work then I couldn’t recommend West Country any higher.

Rachel,  Moving to a permanent position - March 2018

May I take this opportunity to say a huge 'thank you' for my supply teaching experience since April, which has most certainly progressed my teaching and given me great experience in a whole range of schools. I can't believe how fast the time as gone and I would definitely love to come back to West Country if I needed work again. Thank you for being so friendly and reliable with your bookings, and I have really enjoyed the longer-term supply jobs you gave to me.

Anne, moving to teach abroad - July 2017

A huge thank you to everyone at West Country Supply for such a great service.  Always friendly and working hard to find the right placements for me.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you this year and am looking forward to next year.

Paul, current Supply Teacher - July 2017

***** Supportive, professional and wonderful staff leading this agency.  The best agency I have worked for!

Jatinder, current supply teacher.

I was very nervous about doing day to day supply, particularly as I was paying for childcare but working for you was a great experience!

Since I started, over two years ago, you have show tremendous kindness, support and professionalism and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with you.  It has proved an extremely valuable experience for me and I feel I have grown in confidence, adaptability and knowledge as a result.  Our conversations on the telephone have always been a pleasure and I hope I have been able to do justice to the expert and highly professional service you now provide.  I will, of course, have no hesitation in recommending you to both schools and any teachers looking to enter the world of supply teaching.

I have so enjoyed Working for West Country in the twilight of my teaching career, it's been an amazing and enjoyable learning experience. The teaching  assignments have been varied and interesting and I soon developed my confidence teaching all primary age groups.  The relationships with adults and children that I thought I would miss after permanent teaching were quickly established as I was often recalled to the same schools.

WCEA have an amazing backup and support system and have been excellent employers, offering support and advice. They are always at the end of the phone. A big thank you to all the staff it has been a privilege to work for you.

Beryl, retiring July 2016

I would just like to say a big thank you to the whole team. Supply teaching has been much easier than I thought it would be, probably because you are so organised and I find out all the information I need before I arrive at a school. I've really enjoyed working with you, you are a lovely bunch of people. I've already recommended you to friends! Thank you.

Elizabeth,  moving to a permanent position. Jul 2015

Thank you all for being so lovely to work with and if I ever need supply work again, I won't hesitate to get in touch. Being new to supply, I had heard many an agency horror story and I can honestly say that West Country have been the complete opposite!

'West Country Educational Agency gave me the opportunity to work in a number of schools in and around the local area.  They have been very supportive, and I have really enjoyed working for an agency that treat both the schools and their staff as people.  I am now lucky enough to be experiencing teaching in the Falkland Islands, which has only been made possible through West Country!’

Graham,  teaching in the Falkland Islands.  Nov 2014

"It has always been an absolute pleasure working for and dealing with West Country Educational Agency. I will miss the contact I have had with all of you - you have all been always very professional, kind, understanding and friendly."

Jana, moving into a Fixed-term position.  Jul 2014

"I have to say that on countless occasions, other supply teachers I have come across have, without exception, spoken so highly of West Country.  I always sing your praises too, as it has been a pleasure to work with all the friendly and supportive staff at West Country and plenty of work too.

Paul, retiring supply teacher.

“Thank you for organising a most interesting and worthwhile training day.  I found that both sessions were useful and enjoyable - a bit of input, practical follow-up and hand outs to take home... Lunch was a treat; time to sit and eat even.  It was very useful to have the opportunity to speak to fellow supply teachers and to discover that we all seem to share common experiences in schools.”

Carol, current supply teacher

“Whilst my placement in schools and my course were very helpful, it was the supply agency that deserves most credit for ‘making me’ return to teaching. I feel it is important for you to know about the service they give to teachers, particularly ‘returners’ like me, who need their confidence boosted and a gentle nudge. West Country Edcuational Agency also ran a brilliant one-day Behaviour Management Course – I have used all the ideas ever since.”

Jo, teacher returning from college

“I was really impressed with your agency and was constantly surprised by the fact that you always knew who I was and where I had been! It really did make working for you very enjoyable and rewarding.”

Claire, experienced primary school teacher, now in a
permanent position

“Thank you for all the work and support you have given me. It has been lovely to work for a professional and well thought of agency.”

Donna, NQT

"I have been working for West Country Educational Agency for five years now - ever since I returned to UK after two years working with VSO.  I expected the supply work to be a stop-gap before taking permanent work, but I have found that part-time work suits me, the WCEA team have been supportive and encouraging in all my work decisions and every teacher wishes they had my job - teaching, teaching, teaching - very little paperwork and no after school meetings."

Karen, current supply teacher

“West Country managed to place me with a genuine once-in-a-lifetime supply post with the British Paralympic Swimming team's training camp in Dubai. Working as a tutor for athletes in the team that are still in full-time education, I was able to support them with the work they had been set by their schools and colleges. Without West Country's providing of this role, I would have had a much lighter CV and a far bleaker winter - two weeks in Dubai in December really was a treat!

It is also worth mentioning how personable and helpful the staff at West Country are. I have been on several supply teaching agency books and most tend to be akin to salesmen. West Country is staffed by genuine people and talk to you like a person, not an asset.”

Rory, Secondary Teacher supporting British Paralympic
Swimming team

“Having relocated to Wiltshire, I registered with the West Country Educational Agency, intending to teach on a supply basis while seeking a permanent post.   From my initial approach I felt welcomed.  The administrative tasks and interview were efficiently conducted.  Information and advice from the staff were both clear and useful.  The agency proceeded to offer me appropriate placements with relevant information.   The staff enquired regularly about the placements and also provided me with feedbacks from the schools.  Throughout the term, I felt valued and supported as an individual, both on a professional and personal level.”
